يُعرف بـ«الشيخ الأكبر»، صوفي أندلسي من مُرسية بإسبانيا، ألّف أكثر من ٣٥٠ مؤلفًا في التصوف. يُعبِّر ديوانه «ترجمان الأشواق» عن الحب الإلهي بالرمزية الصوفية.
Known as 'al-Shaykh al-Akbar' (The Greatest Master), this Andalusian mystic from Murcia, Spain, wrote over 350 works on Sufi metaphysics. His poetry collection Tarjuman al-Ashwaq expresses divine love through mystical symbolism.

لَقَدْ صَارَ قَلْبِي قَابِلًا كُلَّ صُورَةٍ
My heart has become capable of every form
A meadow for gazelles and a monastery for monks
وَبَيْتٌ لِأَوْثَانٍ وَكَعْبَةُ طَائِفٍ
A temple for idols and a Ka'ba for pilgrims
Tablets of Torah and pages of Quran
أَدِينُ بِدِينِ الحُبِّ أَنَّى تَوَجَّهَتْ
I follow the religion of Love wherever its camels turn
For Love is my religion and my faith
وَكُنْتُ قَبْلَ هَذَا أُنْكِرُ صَاحِبِي
Before this I used to reject my companion
If his religion was not close to mine
طَرَقْتُ بَابَ الْحُبِّ فَانْفَتَحَتْ آيَاتُهُ
I knocked on the door of love, and its signs unfolded,
I drank from its cup and became radiant…
وَعِشْتُ بِكَ لَا بِذَاتِي فَصِرْتَ أَجَلَّ مَنْ أَرَى
I lived through You, not through myself, so You became the greatest I see,
