يَا أَهْلَ أَنْدَلُسٍ لِلَّهِ دَرُّكُمُ
O people of Andalusia, how blessed you are
Water and shade and rivers and trees
مَا جَنَّةُ الخُلْدِ إِلَّا فِي دِيَارِكُمُ
The eternal Paradise is only in your lands
And if I could choose, this is what I would choose
وَلا تَخَفْ دَخْلَ نَارٍ بَعْدَ سُكْنَاهَا
And do not fear entering Hell after dwelling in it
For one does not enter Hell after Paradise
وَلَقَدْ ذَكَرْتُكَ وَالظِّلالُ عَوَاكِفٌ
I remembered you while shadows lingered
Over the pool and the pitcher was sober
وَنَهْرٍ كَسَيْفِ المَلْكِ صَفْحًا وَرِقَّةً
And a river like the king's sword in polish and fineness
