يُلقب بـ«سلطان العاشقين»، أعظم شاعر صوفي بالعربية بعد الرومي. تائيته الكبرى تُعدّ قمة الشعر الصوفي. ضريحه على جبل المقطم مزار يُقصد.

Called 'Sultan of the Lovers,' he is the greatest Sufi poet in Arabic after Rumi. His Greater Ode Rhyming in T is considered the pinnacle of mystical poetry. His tomb on al-Muqattam hill is a pilgrimage site.
