سيد قبيلة تغلب وفارسها، اشتهر بقتله الملك عمرو بن هند دفاعًا عن شرف أمه. معلقته من أطول المعلقات وأكثرها فخرًا قبليًا، كانت قبيلته تنشدها في حروبها.
Chief and champion of the Taghlib tribe, famous for killing King Amr ibn Hind to defend his mother's honor. His Mu'allaqa is one of the longest and most boastful, expressing tribal pride. His tribe memorized it for wars.

أَلاَ هُبِّي بِصَحْنِكِ فَاصْبَحِينَا
Arise with your bowl and give us morning drink
And do not spare the wines of Andarin
إِذَا بَلَغَ الْفِطَامَ لَنَا صَبِيٌّ
When a child of ours reaches weaning
The tyrants fall prostrate before him
أَلاَ لاَ يَجْهَلَنَّ أَحَدٌ عَلَيْنَا
Let no one act foolishly against us
Lest we act more foolishly than the foolish
أَلا هُبِّي بِصَحْنِكِ فَاصْبَحِينَا
Come, rouse yourself with your cup and give us morning drink
And do not save the wines of Andarin
إِذَا بَلَغَ الفِطَامَ لَنَا صَبِيٌّ
When one of our children reaches weaning
Tyrants bow down before him prostrating
أَلا لا يَجْهَلَنَّ أَحَدٌ عَلَيْنَا
Let no one act ignorantly toward us
Or we shall act more ignorantly than the ignorant
