شاعر عباسي من شعراء البلاط، اشتُهر بالغزل الرقيق الخالص. تفرد عن أبناء عصره بأنه لم ينظم في مديح ولا هجاء، واقتصر شعره على الحب، وكثيرًا ما خاطب محبوبته «فوز».
Abbasid court poet celebrated for refined, exclusively amorous ghazal. Unlike most of his contemporaries he wrote only love poetry — much of it addressed to his idealized beloved Fawz — and avoided panegyric and satire entirely.
