Leave off blaming me, for blame is only temptation And cure me with that which was the disease
Give me wine to drink and tell me it is wine Do not give it to me in secret when you can do so…
One cup I drank for pleasure And another I used to cure what the first had caused
Leave off your blame, for blame only incites me more And cure me with that which was the disease…
Give me wine to drink and say: this is wine And do not serve me in secret when openness is possible
My Lord, I am not worthy of Paradise Nor can I endure the fire of Hell
Cease your blame, for blame is incitement And cure me with what was the disease
Come, pour me wine and tell me it is wine And do not pour me secretly when openness is possible
My God, I am not worthy of Paradise Nor can I bear the fire of Hell
Leave off blaming me, for blame is enticement And cure me with that which was the disease
Come, give me wine and call it wine And do not give it to me secretly when openness is possible
My God, I am not worthy of Paradise Nor can I bear the fire of Hell
