وَإِذَا صَاحِبُكَ أَصَابَتْهُ نَكْبَةٌ
When your companion is struck by calamity
Grieve as if it struck you
وَلا خَيْرَ فِيمَنْ لا يُوَالِي عَلَى عَهْدٍ
There is no good in one who does not maintain loyalty
And no good in a promise if it is not truthful
أَرَى النَّاسَ أَخْلاقًا فَأُلْقِيهِمُ بِهَا
I see people's characters and meet them with theirs
But if they return evil with evil, I do not add
كَمْ مِنْ عَزِيزٍ أَعَزَّهُ جُودُهُ
How many a noble one whose generosity honored them
